What’s it about?
James is forcibly introduced into a new world and must not only come to terms with new realities but the loss of his favourite TV show Brigsby Bear. With some new friends, he sets out to finish the story himself.

What did we think?
Anthony Sherratt says: Brigsby Bear is a wonderfully endearing coming of age film set amidst a backdrop of child abduction and intense fandom. Its quirkiness and off-kilter approach will no doubt turn some people off but those that appreciate something different will fall in love with this exploration of pop-culture fandom and feeling of being an outsider.

Even the cringe moments – something that usually annoys me – are more adorable than irritating because we’re not laughing AT James but at the situation with empathy.

The film has an incredible supporting cast of Mark Hamill, Greg Kinnear, Claire Danes and even an Andy Samberg cameo, but the earnestness of Kyle Mooney is the shining light in this heartwarming endeavour. Surprising but truly wonderful. I can’t write too much because I don’t want to spoil anything but quite simply do not miss this movie: seek it out. You won’t be sorry.

Yeah this is one of the best movies of the year hands down. I thought it was going to be silly but it never was. Just all too real.
